Myotherapy is the treatment of specific muscle dysfunction, focusing on the assessment of a particular area or injury. Providing a targeted physical therapy hands on treatment to alleviate the cause of discomfort, and the underlying issue.
Part of the Myotherapy treatment is using trigger point therapy to treat pain, and promote change in the tissue. Part of the treatment is locating and treating trigger points related to the muscular pain the client is experiencing. The aim of the treatment is to alleviate the musculoskeletal pain, and restore normality to the muscle tissue, and joint mobility.
There is a lot of over-lap between Remedial Massage and Myotherapy, and at Remedial Massage Brunswick, we had all been trained and practicing Remedial Massage, prior to extending our practice to include Myotherapy in our training and practice. Myotherapy is a targeted and specific form of treatment, which includes techniques to promote healing and encourage soft tissue recovery and mobility.
